In April 2017, Gunn announced that he could return to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Volume three. However, in July 2018, Marvel and Disney severed ties with Gunn following the reemerge of old controversial tweets where Gunn joked about topics such as rape and pedophilia. Production was put on hold a month later. In March 2019, Disney and Marvel Studios reversed the direction and reinstated Gunn as director. Filming is expected to begin in 2024, and we can guess that part three will be released by 2024. There’s been no official trailer or teaser to it, however.
