With a stellar cast, an amazing director, and an epic plot, the upcoming film “Dune” should not be missing.
Based on a 1965 science fiction novel by Frank Herbert, “Dune” has already been adapted several times in a film, most notably by “Twin Peaks” director David Lynch in 1984, which included Sting, a soundtrack from the rock band of Toto. from the 80s and an adorable pug in his favorite classic cult.
But the new remake “Dune”, directed by “Blade Runner 2049” director, Denis Villeneuve, is already making waves months before its release, mainly thanks to the cast of A-list.
It is based on a classic science fiction novel by Frank Herbert:
Originally published in 1965, Herbert’s “Dune” tells the story of the noble Atreides family – Duke Leto, Lady Jessica and their son Paul – sent by their emperor to the planet Arrakis (also called dune) to collect ink or “Spice”, a rare substance that can prolong human life and improve mental abilities.
Once they reach the Arrakis, the Atreides family is betrayed by their rival Harkonnens family in a red wedding, but Jessica and Paul manage to escape to the desert.
Eventually, they find refuge with the Fremen (the natives of the planet) and plot their revenge against the Harkonnen, while Paul sharpens his fighting skills and mental abilities – culminating in his appearance as Kwisatz Haderach, almost a beautiful man and infallible messiah whose return was prophesied by Ben Gesherit (a religious order for all women to which Jessica belongs).
Who is in the cast list?
Chalamet isn’t the only noteworthy actor in the next remake – Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Zendaya, and Stellan Skarsgard also have roles in the film.
Isaac will play Duke Leto, the noble but doomed leader of the Atreides family, while Skarsgard will play his opponent, the ruthless Baron Harkonnen. Bardem and Zendaya act as members of Fremen (Bardem as their leader and Zendaya as a member of the Fremen tribe and Paul’s love interest, called Chani), and Brolin will play Gurney Halleck, a faithful house warrior. Atreides who later leads Paul.
The cast also includes Charlotte Rampling, Rebecca Ferguson, and “Blade Runner 2049” star, Dave Bautista, who shared news about her Instagram cast last July.
And “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa is set to play Duncan Idaho, another Atreides soldier who helps Paul fight the Harkonnen.
Dune will be split into two parts:
The critically acclaimed director recently directed “Blade Runner 2049”, the 1982 “Blade Runner” sequel.
In addition to directing “Dune”, he is also ready to direct and produce the first episode of “Dune: The Sisterhood”, a spin-off from the upcoming film that focuses on the legendary Bene Gesserit to be shown on HBO Max.
Sources said on Tuesday that Villeneuve plans to divide Herbert’s monumental novel into two parts, the first of which will be released later this year.
The latest release date for the scientific epic is December of this year, but it may change due to the current health crisis.
