Six Years will be directed by David Ayer for Netflix.
The Suicide Squad filmmaker will do an adaptation of the new project, the thriller ‘Six Years’ by the successful author Harlan Coben, which tells the story of passion and lost love.
The novel follows college professor Jake Fisher
Who lost his true love for another man, Natalie, six years ago. When he finds out that Natalie’s husband Todd died, Jake goes to the funeral, but Natalie’s unhappy widow doesn’t. This leads him on a quest to find out what happened to him and if all the memories of their relationship are based on lies.
When Jake discovers the truth, his perfect memories of Natalie begin to crumble.
The couple’s mutual friends cannot know each other or Jake doesn’t remember. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart, and who lied to him, soon risks his life because it is up to him that the man he has become is based on a carefully constructed imagination.
Ayer is currently in post-production for his new movie The Tax Collector, a gritty urban corner drama in the vein of End of Watch and the Harsh Times that reunites the director with his Fury star Shia La Bioff.
