The parasite is one of South Korea’s largest-ever movies. Given the enormous South Korean TV series and film catalog of Netflix.
While it’s best to know as little as possible about Parasite, it’s based on an unemployed family who gets involved in a more prosperous family life. It rapidly transforms into a different type of film.
The film looks forward to storming all award ceremonies during 2024. It also won the first-ever Golden Globe award in South Korea when the best foreign film was won.
Will ‘Parasite’ Join Hands With The Streaming Giant Netflix?
Sadly, no streaming plans have yet been confirmed for Parasite. However, we know that the film plans to stream video on demand on 14 January 2024. We also know that from February 2024, the film will run a selected theatre.
The dealer usually sells the show to streaming platforms. It is distributed by a Korean entertainment company named CJ Entertainment in the case of Parasite. Although some of their films are available on Netflix in South Korea as The Truth Beneath (2016), The Princess and Matchmaker (2018), we could not find any of their titles outside of Netflix.
In the case of Parasite, we can imagine the title being sold individually to a streaming service in late 2024. The film has won awards and expects it to be highly sought after.
This is disappointing news, but for now, it’s all we know until we get more news.
Until we left, we figured we should note that Bong Joon-ho had previously worked with Netflix. As you may remember, he wrote and directed the fantastic film Okja in 2017. The film was an award-winning success and is still recognized as one of Netflix’s best Original movies.
Next week, the film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on 14 January. And, it will be available to buy on Amazon online and stream on FandangoNow.
Three of the Golden Globes also nominated Parasite: The Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. For the Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language, it took home the Golden Globe.
