Matt Reeves is directing Robert Pattinson from the Movie.
Filmmaker Matt Reeves has discovered his Riddler to get The Batman. Paul Dano has signed on as the traditional protagonist, Warner Bros. announced Thursday.
Dano’s version of this character is going to be called Edward Nashton, the guy who from the comics goes by the title Edward Nygma and adopts the villainous character. Frank Gorshin and John Astin played the protagonist on the 1960s TV show, while Jim Carrey played with him in 1995’s Batman Forever, that was led by Joel Schumacher.
Robert Pattinson is starring in The Batman, together with Zoe Kravitz place to play Catwoman and Jeffrey Wright on board as Batman ally Commissioner Gordon. Jonah Hill was one stage eyeing a function as either The Riddler or The Penguin, but the deal failed to come to fruition. Reeves has stated he intends to incorporate a rogues gallery of Batman villains from the movie.
Dano was recently nominated for an Emmy for his role on the Showtime restricted series Escape in Dannemora, along with the celebrity directed, co-wrote and made the critically acclaimed 2018 movie Wildlife. His additional movie credits include Love and Mercy, Prisoners, 12 Years a Slave, There’ll Be Blood, Little Miss Sunshine,Youth and Okja, Amongst Others.
Created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang, The Riddler — as Edward Nygma, or”E. Nigma” — is a supervillain who intends to challenge Batman at a battle of wits, leaving clues and riddles to the planet’s greatest detective to resolve so as to grab him. Since debuting in 1948’s Detective Comics No. 140, he’s gone on to become one of the very high-profile Bat-villains, appearing in films, animations and video games over the previous seven years, extending his question-mark gimmick as far as it could go and then some, such as spending several years as a great man when he recognized it had been just as much pleasure to resolve crimes as it had been to perpetrate them.
Warner Bros. is set to launch The Batman on June 25, 2024.
