Man Arrested In Virginia For Stealing SUV On Gunpoint

A man in Virginia robbed a car on gunpoint 

The suspect was booked in Virginia on Monday on suspicion of stealing an SUV from a North Carolina man who has been missing since Saturday.

Justin Merritt, 34, was arrested in Danville and charged with robbery, car theft, and possession of a firearm by a convicted criminal in connection with the theft of a 2011 Range Rover belonging to 39-year-old William Banks.

Sources reported that Banks went missing in Raleigh, North Carolina after making an appointment with someone to sell a car.

Officers discovered Bank’s phone on Interstate 40

Sources said Banks’s cell phone was found on Interstate 40 in Raleigh on Sunday.

As of Wednesday, the Raleigh Police Department is investigating Banks’ disappearance as murder, according to the reports. Police did not provide details but said they had reason to believe foul play was involved.

Charges:

Merritt has not been charged in connection with Banks’ alleged death. Authorities have not yet identified him as a person interested in the ongoing murder investigation.

Sources said Merritt has since been relocated to Wake County Detention Center in North Carolina.
