A brand new sequel of Ghostbusters in the universe of the original 1980s movies will be shown in 2024.
Directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, director of the first two films – Ghostbusters. Following Ghostbusters II of 1989, the Afterlife is the result of long-standing plans to create a third film.
The film follows a single mother with her two children as they move to Oklahoma after they inherit a mysterious house, Carrie Coon, of The Leftovers, Mckenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard.
The first film stars of the film are Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Egon Spengler’s player, died in 2014.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be released on 10 July 2024 in US cinemas. It was not yet announced when the movie would be released in the UK.

The film will also be shown as a science-obsessed Phoebe, Captain Marvel actress McKenna Grace, 12, will be leading the film’s cast — and grandfather to one of the original Ghostbusters. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard is joining her, while her character’s brother Trevor, and The Sinner’s Carrie Coon, has recently revealed a first-look photo of her family at the beginning of her film.
Reports revealed in June 2019 that Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd was also a teacher, Mr. Grooberson, potentially in charge of Grace’s characters and Wolfhard’s. It has emerged that during the 1984 “Manhattan Crossrip,” Mr. Grooberson was a kid in New York.
The participation of Rudd was reinforced by Ghostbusters’ official Twitter account, which shared an actor’s video in front of the iconic franchise firehouse.
Plot Details:
The new film follows Mother-of-Two Callie, who inherits a property that she never knew about in Oklahoma. Science-obsessed daughter Phoebe is played by Mckenna Grace, while Finn Wolfhard plays her petrolhead friend.
“When the family comes to an old farm, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters,” said the producer, Jason Reitman. “Trevor and Phoebe will find out who their grandfather was and whether they are ready to take a proton pack.”
Trevor will discover the retro ambulance-turned ghostbuster car, and Phoebe will “find an instantly recognizable instrument of the trade from the original film that reads the psychokinetic energy.” The only question is whether Trevor and Phoebe will choose to join the family business. Ghostbusters 3 will pursue the 1989 Ghostbusters II in a different universe to the all-female reboot of 2016.
