Kansas City police accused a 22-year-old man of shooting at a house in June, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old boy when he was sleeping
Ryson Ellis was charged with second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons, and two counts of armed crime in connection with the death of LeGend Taliferro on June 29, KCTV5 reported.
Ellis was tracked down by police using eyewitness descriptions of a suspect seen in the area and video footage of a suspect vehicle seen in the area.
The witness claimed that she heard the sound of firing
The car was rented on 23 June and returned on 3 July. A witness told police she was driving with Ellis as a passenger on the night of the shooting. He got out of the car near the apartment. The witness said she heard gunshots and Ellis ran back to the car.
She also said she found out someone was killed later.
Elish used to threaten the woman
Court records claim that the woman who was in the apartment when the fatal shooting occurred told police she had a child with Ellis and that he had assaulted her a few days earlier. Due to the attack, members of his family clashed with him, including LeGend’s father, who lived in the apartment. The woman also said Ellis sent her threatening messages.
Ellis was pronounced dead in the hospital
The shots came from outside the apartment and went through the fence and glass door, police said, with one hitting LeGend in the face. Ellis was pronounced dead in the hospital
