On Sunday night, hundreds of people assembled at Brewster Gardens in Plymouth to honor a 13-year-old girl who was killed in an accident caused by an alleged intoxicated driver.
Those in the crowd lit candles in the comfort of the families of Claire Zisserson and her friend Kendall Zemotel, also 13-year-old, who was severely wounded on December 29, 2019, accident in Pembroke. Claire’s mother was also critically injured in the accident.
The 13-year-old Claire would have celebrated her 14th birthday on Sunday.
Zack Adams, a friend of Claire’s, said that ‘It is very tough to lose a best friend like that, but I have a lot of people here holding me and encouraging me through this tough time, and I am doing better.’
A 31-year-old Gregory Goodsell was taken into custody by the police in connection with the crash. He allegedly confessed to police that he was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol at the time of the accident and should not have been driving the vehicle.
Goodsell sped through a red light and hit the vehicle the victims were riding in, according to police. The 31-year-old was driving a pickup truck that belongs to his employer.
The 31-year-old is currently being held in prison without bail.
Police are investigating the case, and charges of the 31-year-old is not known.
The authorities have not released further information about the incident.
