If the five-time host Ricky Gervais is to be believed, the 77th Golden globes 2024 kick-started with a bang. The war drama of 1917 won the Best Picture (drama), while Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino directed the Best Screenplay Motion Picture at the Golden Globes 2024.
Sam Mendes was awarded the Best Film (drama) as well as the Best Director Award for 1917. Joaquin Phoenix won Best Actor (drama) in his critically acclaimed performance of Todd Phillips’ movie Joker. In contrast, Renee Zellweger won the best actress (drama) in the biopic Judy based on the life of American actress-singer Judy Garland.
The Best Motion Picture (musical or comedy) was also won Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. Taron Egerton was the best actor in the genre Musical or Comedy for Rocketman, while Awkwafina won the best actress of the genre for The Farewell.
Laura Dern won the prize for her performance in Marriage Story in the category of Best Supporting Actor in any film, whereas Brad Pitt won the award for his performance in Hollywood once a time. In TV, the critically acclaimed Chernobyl of Hotstar won the best TV shows, while the Succession of HBO won the best TV series drama. Life Awards were also one of the highlights of the Golden Globes this year. Tom Hanks won the Cecil B DeMille while the Carol Burnett Award was awarded to Ellen DeGeneres for TV life’s achievements.
