On Wednesday, HBO announced that the three-part of animated series titled Aquaman: King of Atlantis got the green light for HBO Max.
James Wan will return to the DC Universe
James Wan will come back to the DC Universe a little sooner than anticipated. The director of the 2018 live-action Aquaman film, James Wan, will executive produce through his Atomic Monster production house. According to the information provided by the sources, the declaration was made at the WarnerMedia Television Critics Association (TCA) day.
There are only some information are available at the time, but HBO states that each of the standalone events will have a different storyline following the adventures of Aquaman as guardian of the deep.
It seems like this is an all-ages incident, and that is ideally in keeping with the nutso underwater fairytale aspect of Wan’s billion-dollar earning 2018 Aquaman film.
The announcement of HBO Max did not confirm whether Jason Momoa or any other cast members of the DC live-action movie will give their voices to the show or if it is even bound to it beyond being about Aquaman and Wan included.
The official synopsis follows
If we talk about the official synopsis which follows: ‘Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the series starts with Aquaman’s first day on the job as king of Atlantis and he’s got a LOT of catching up to do.
Fortunately, he has his two great advisors to back him up – Vulko, the scholar, and Mera, the water managing warrior-princess.
Amid dealing with immoral surface residents, elder iniquities from beyond time, and his own half-brother who requires to overthrow him, Aquaman is going to have to stand to the difficulty and prove to his subjects, and to himself, that he’s the right man for the trident!’
Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max, stated, ‘This DC feature is a fan-favorite rich with well-known characters and powerful storylines.’
‘On the heels of Warner Bros. Pictures’ box office blockbuster, we are sure Aquaman: King of Atlantis will be an interesting addition to our already strong slate of children and family programming.’
