There has been a report that Brother Voodoo will be joining the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. When Marvel Studios declared to make a sequel to Doctor Strange last year, it immediately became clear how valuable it could be to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will co-star Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and open up the Marvel multiverse for Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to explore.
Movie Will Feature Several Marvel Characters
In the months since Doctor Strange 2 was declared to make, though, the movie’s scope has extended to grow. Instead of just being an individual role of Doctor Strange in the movie, the movie will reportedly feature several various notable Marvel characters.
New information about the film seems to indicate that America Chavez, aka Miss America, will be featured in some fashion. She would join a supporting cast of the movie that is expected to feature returning characters Wong [Benedict Wong] and Baron Mordo [Chiwetel Ejiofor], and now another Marvel hero may also be joining the movie as a supporting role.
Marvel Is Looking For A Supporting Male Character For Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
According to sources, Marvel is examining to cast a supporting male character for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness who is of Caribbean origin. Although the breakdown does not exactly name Jericho Drumm, aka Brother Voodoo, the report matches Marvel’s Haitian sorcerer. At this point, though, it is not validated that this character is Brother Voodoo, so there’s a possibility this could be another character of Haitian descent.
In the comics, Brother Voodoo was first launched in Strange Tales #169 in 1973. He starts training in sorcery, specifically Houngan, after he loses his brother, so his MCU story could follow a related arc. His brother, Daniel Drumm, had a small role in Doctor Strange before being executed by Kaecilius.
Brother Voodoo Could Be A Powerful Ally Of Doctor Strange
If Brother Voodoo is a character of Doctor Strange 2, then he could prove to be a powerful associate to Strange against whatever threats they encounter across the multiverse. But, it’s also worth considering the multiverse’s influence in the story could allow Voodoo to be from a diverse reality, maybe even as an alternate Sorcerer Supreme.
Now that another character is talked to be part of Doctor Strange 2, it will surely raise interests the sequel is getting too crowded. Perhaps these extra characters could even be one of the causes why director Scott Derrickson lately left Doctor Strange.
Marvel’s usual style with series is to make them even greater than the earlier film and introduce major characters in the sequel. Some examples of this practice include Black Widow debuting in Iron Man 2, Scarlet Witch and Vision joining Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Falcon appearing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. WhetherDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can balance a probably larger cast could eventually depend on who chooses to direct it.
