The adventures of Sharkboy and LoveGirl were produced by action film veteran Robert Rodriguez. In an interview with Collider, Rodríguez revealed how the two cinematic worlds will come together in his next Netflix movie We Can Be Heroes, a superhero movie starring Pedro Pascal and Priyanka Chopra.

Sharkboy and Lavagirl were the stars of Rodríguez’s 2005 children’s movie, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3D. The film was first received with little reception when it came out, but then gained a cult following among children who watched it. But like those children, the Sharkboy and Lovegirl characters have grown … finding their way in Rodríguez’s new movie.

We Can Be Heroes: Release Date

The release date for ‘We Can Be Heroes’ has yet to be announced as there is no official date announced. The production of the films is halted due to the current global coronavirus pandemic but is expected to arrive sometime in 2024. While we don’t have an official plot synopsis yet, Rodríguez revealed during the Comic-Con @ Home event that the film will be about two generations of superheroes. He also confirmed that his cult classic characters Sharkboy and Lavagiral from ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lovegirl in 3-D’ will appear as adults with a daughter who has a combination of her powers.
