It’s been a tough week for Batwoman, with Ruby Rose surprising us by quitting Kate Kane after only one season. While there were several reasons why Rose quit her job, there was no shortage of actors expressing interest in taking on the character. So far, famous names said to be involved in Batwoman include Stephanie Beatriz, Alaina Huffman, and Wallis Day. The latest actress to appear is Jade Tailor, perhaps best known for The Magicians.
Jade Tailor wants to take the role of Ruby Rose:
Tailor recently released her credentials on Twitter, including her fighting skills and experience with the requirements of a five-season television show from The Magicians.
To strengthen her case, Tailor also shared a video with herself showing some fighting:
Soo… since #rubyrose is no longer playing #Batwoman on #BatwomanCW I think they should cast someone with fighting skills (like krav maga) who has already played a bad ass on screen the last 5 years and loves working crazy hours! Just saying @TheCW I’m right here waiting??♀️

Is Tailor a good choice for the role?
Outside of the magicians, Tailor also appeared in series such as Murder in the First, True Blood, Vegas, and Aquarius. In addition, the actress has starred in films such as Higher Power, Cam2Cam, and Altered Perception. Based on her experience, it seems that Tailor could be a strong candidate to replace Rose, although there are still many open-ended questions about what CW wants to do with the role.
A crucial point for the cast could be if they want to deal with another lesbian or bisexual actress, which was an important selling point for Rose’s role in Batwoman. Indeed, LGBT issues were crucial to the show’s first season, and the series’ identity could be affected if it withdrew in terms of performance. While this is by no means a reason to choose someone who doesn’t fit the role, it’s probably in the heads of producers who want to get an actor who continues to take positive steps in representation.
CW has not confirmed the cast yet:
At the moment, CW has a short break to decide on casting, with Batwoman recently ending her first season with an appearance in Bruce Wayne of Arrowverse. The producers behind Arrowverse have also expressed hope that Batwoman can be established as a worthy successor to Arrow, so let’s imagine that Kate Kane is very important for the second time.
