Depending on what you wish to customize, you can make changes accordingly. The product page file is /templates/product.liquid. This is the place where the editing will take place. Shopify provides you with documentation to help you customize your theme files. You can edit features, cart buttons, variants, etc. You can do this by yourself if you have knowledge of Liquid, CSS, and HTML along with JavaScript. It is wise to keep a backup copy of the theme just in case things don’t go your way. You need to ensure that the theme developers support the changes you make so that you are eligible to get the support you need when you need it.
