Apple seems to have un-authoritatively apologized to WordPress following a spat between the two organizations over in-application buys in WordPress’ iOS application.
WordPress – a well known CMS – offers a free application for its clients on the App Store, which doesn’t offer any in-application buys; however WordPress and utilizes the application to advance its paid memberships. Be that as it may, clients can’t accept memberships through the application and must do so through the organization’s site.
So as to forestall WordPress from promoting its paid administrations inside its free application, Apple concocted an arrangement where it would square updates to the application until the open-source venture empowered in-application buys.
As indicated by a message that WordPress originator Matt Mullenweg tweeted on before the end of last week, Apple apparently would not permit the WordPress group to refresh their iOS application until they threw in-application installment alternatives.
The purpose behind this is because of the way that Apple gets a 30% cut of all in-application buys made through applications facilitated in its store. Apple also announced to CNET, where it states, “We accept the issue with the WordPress application has been settled. We have educated the engineer and apologize for any disarray that we have caused.”
While it’s certainly news to see that the issue has been settled, the fundamental point from this occurrence is clear — Apple isn’t totally guiltless themselves. Truly this gives Epic’s “Campaign” against their “mastery” some sliver of truth.
