The Queen’s Gambit takes inspiration from Walter Tevis’ 1983 novel of the same name. The upcoming drama mini-series revolves around a young girl Beth Harmon. Beth Harmon is an orphan in Kentucky, but she has a gift and is a chess prodigy. Through her pre-teen life till turning twenty-two, Beth was addicted to tranquilizers provided by the state as a sedative for the children, and she wanted to become the Grandmaster in chess. For a long time, the young girl struggled with her addiction. Through the series, the creators want to capture the struggle faced by the young orphan girl as she works hard to become the Grandmaster in chess.
