Incident
A 28-year-old man from Georgia was convicted for violating his punishment, and he is now facing various charges after a 6-year-old took hold of his gun and accidentally shot his 4-year-old sister in the face.
Girl’s Condition
The little girl was said to have been left at a service store on Whitesville Street in LaGrange after the unintentional shooting on May 18. The police officers immediately reacted to the convenience store in the afternoon, and that was where they found the little girl in critical condition.
Rushed to Hospital
The little girl was hurried to a nearby hospital, and she was eventually transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. The 4-year-old was stable, but she is still in critical condition.
The suspect, Leemarkese Deandelo Melson, left a loaded handgun around the children at home on Kelly Street. The police asserted that the 6-year-old pulled up the loaded gun, played with it. He then accidentally shot the 4-year-old in the face.
Melson History Of Felonies
After the accident, Melson escaped the scene and took the weapon with him. Melson is a known criminal in the area. He is already wanted on failing to appear in his court hearing and violating his punishment twice. He was also locked up for a year after he was arrested for assault and robbery.
Melson has now additional warrants for tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a sentenced criminal, and second-degree child cruelty.
