Stargirl Finally Has A Premiere Date! Here’s What A Fan Should Know

DC Universe’s Stargirl will formally release on the streaming platform on Monday, May 11, ahead of its debut on The CW on Tuesday, May 12.

Stargirl Reflects A High School Student

Stargirl is based on the comic book character made by Geoff Johns, who also serves as co-showrunner with Queen Sugar‘s Melissa Carter, Stargirl centres on a high school student, Courtney Whitmore who gets an especially powered team and — usually — applies it to combat evil.

Based on the original comics by Johns and artist Lee Moder, DC Universe’s Stargirl re-thinks the classic comics by quickly joining in another team of heroes Johns support repair: the Justice Society of America.

A kind of forebear to the Justice League, the Justice Society adds some well-known figures — The Flash, Green Lantern — and many more, though generally with an old-timey twist.

Courtney goes to the city of Blue Valley in the program, Nebraska following her mother remarries a guy, Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson). In the story, Dugan was the inventor of a robotic set of protection named S.T.R.I.P.E. and came together with Courtney/Stargirl to teach her and defend her.

Once she receives her endowments, she’ll serve to encourage an entirely new group of heroes to battle a much older sin. If you are questioning: this happens in a separate world than the CW superhero programs — and even a separate world than the other DC Universe presents, such as Titans and Doom Patrol.

Don’t confound from the Disney+ film of the same name, Stargirl will release new, commercial-free events each Monday on DC Universe, adding extended events, behind-the-scenes clip, and more.

The events will then air on The CW at 9/8c on The CW on following Tuesdays. It’ll take over the opening now held by DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which likely will move straight by to its end event on May 5.

Cast

The program also features Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Trae Romano, Cameron Gellman, Meg DeLacy, Christopher James Baker, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, and Hunter Sansone. It is produced by Berlanti Productions and Mad Ghost Productions in connection with Warner Bros. Television.
