Scarlett Johansson Reveals How The Iron Man 2 Changed Her Life

Scarlett Johansson will finally have her standalone MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) movie Black Widow this summer. The movie is expected to release on 24 April 2024. It has been a decade since Scarlett Johansson had made her debut as the framed Avenger in Iron Man 2. The 35-year-old actress shared how his character changes her life.

Iron Man 2 Change Scarlett Johansson Life

She said that “Iron Man 2 was the first moment I had to combat train. It was difficult. I discovered out that I had got the role five weeks before we began shooting. So, I just had to change in those five weeks. It was a very hard time. It’s really been such a gift for me. Because I was apparently maybe 23, 24 at the time. It really gave me this life of physical awareness I would presumably never have had otherwise.”

It’s really crazy to believe about how young Scarlett Johansson was when she first wore those red locks in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man series. Scarlett Johansson was already a well-known actress for her roles in Match PointLost In Translation, The Island, or He’s Just Not That Into You, but when she shifted into that leather suit, she rose even higher into the A-list.

Iron Man 2 Made Scarlett Johansson Learn Basic Martial Arts

As the 35-year-old actor explains, taking on Black Widow was an extraordinary feat for her, but it’s allowed her to dive into physical fitness since her early ’20s. In Iron Man 2, she learned fundamental martial arts, how to punch, and operate a weapon, and it’s helped her for years to come. Johansson does not think she would have dived into that sort of physical challenge if it was not for her casting.

The 35-year-old actor even praises stunt woman Heidi Moneymaker for being a massive part of learning these skills. Scarlett Johansson called herself a “very amateur stuntwoman” and told that she would not have been able to pull off her many action scenes in the franchise without her stunt doubles.

Scarlett Johansson even played her role while she was pregnant with her daughter Rose while filming for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Scarlett Johansson was undoubtedly one of the first female heroes to cast to the big screen, and so much has changed since she was cast in Iron Man 2.
