Morbius which is based on the comic character Morbius, the Living Vampire, will introduce another of Spider-Man’s enemies following 2018’s Venom. The second movie of Sony, in its opening MCU, features Jared Leto as an undead beast.
There are also some Easter eggs connecting the film to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The trailer views Leto massively done up in makeup and visual effects, presenting him even less identifiable than he was when he performed the Joker in Suicide Squad.
Make early reviews based on the first trailer, released on the Monday in the morning.
Morbius reflects Michael Morbius, who is a scientist tries to cure himself of a unique blood infection. Applying bat DNA, he changes himself into a kind of monster.
Let’s have a look at the Morbius’ incredible cast: There is Adria Arjona (viewed lately in 6 Underground) as Morbius’ fiancee; Matt Smith in his first superhero film as Loxias Crown, a friend of Morbius’ facing the same blood infection; Tyrese Gibson as FBI agent Simon Stroud; and Jared Harris (Mad Men, The Expanse, The Crown, Chernobyl and much more) as Morbius’ mentor.
About Morbius
Morbius first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 in 1971. The movie, which is created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, the concept of a “living vampire,” appeared from the two wanting to produce a Dracula comic.
However, they got a request from then-Marvel boss Stan Lee to create a new costumed knave. The result was a monster made from science rather than being bitten.
Following his presentation, Morbius became an ordinary Spider-Man villain but then resorted to being a terrible hero who strives to find a remedy for his vampirism while also getting in fights with both good and bad people.
Connections and Links with the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Morbius trailer has two notable Easter eggs in it. The first appears at the 2:10 mark while Morbius is noticed walking by a street art portrait of Spider-Man that has a “killer” scrawled over it.
This probably means the film will appear following Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Spidey is exposed and accused of the killing of Mysterio.
After that, at the end of the teaser, the Vulture performed by Michael Keaton comes back.
He was noticed for the last time in jail at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which may indicate that he’s left.
His communication with Morbius, as noticed in the trailer, provides a sign that perhaps the Vulture has been looking for Morbius.
Can we say this be the first sign of the making of the Sinister Six, the supervillain bunch planned to kill Spider-Man?
Some saw a comic DC film link with Jared Leto on social media, who earlier performed the Joker in Suicide Squad, joining with Michael Keaton, who carried the iconic cape and cowl of Batman in two films.
