The American actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, which last week both tested positive for COVID-19, were released from the Gold Coast University hospital when the total number of cases reached 78 in Queensland.
Hanks’ son Chet said that in an Instagram post today both his parents had been released from the hospital and felt much better.
“They are still self-quarantined, but look much better, so it’s a relief,” Chet Hanks said in the post.
Chet also pointed at those who stored food and other things and called for calmness.
Hanks Was Working On Elvis Biopic
Hanks collaborated with producer Baz Luhrmann on an Elvis biopic in Queensland. The film was made, and other casts and crews are thought to be self-isolation.
Hanks announced the social media diagnosis of the couple last week and thanked “the people down here” who took care of them.
Hanks also called on people to heed the experts’ advice.
“There are things we can do to get through following expert advice and caring for each other, right?” he wrote. Wilson played at the Emporium Hotel in Brisbane’s South Bank and the Sydney Opera House earlier in the month.

Mr Kotzas confirmed that QPAC would notify all patrons affected by the cancellation and give a full refund on their tickets.
This was revealed shortly after the organizers cancelled the Festival of Curiocity Brisbane, which was scheduled to start on Friday.
