Asteroid Alert!! Astronomers Have Spotted An Asteroid Near Jupiter

Though the scientist and researchers have come up with many discovered over many years in the space, there is still plenty of things for the astronauts to discover strange new objects left in the orbit.

Recent evidence showed that the researchers with the help of the University of Hawaii’s ATLAS (Asteroid Terrestrial – impact Last Alert System) found a Trojan asteroid – named 2019 LD2.

This asteroid not only follows an odd orbit around the Jupiter but also sports an ice tail – which is a unique cross over between asteroid and comet.

Further, this asteroid appears to be active for only a year which seems to be unusual when Jupiter Trojans are often recorded to stay for billions of years old and should have lost their ice a long time ago.

Additionally, more data are required to further determine to know what has led to this strange kind of finding, but according to the University for Astronomy suggested that Jupiter might have captured the asteroid from much longer distance orbit.

There are chances that the collision with another space rock might have exposed the ice that was previously safe and escaped from Sun’s heat. Either way, this revelation might through insights about the nature of the solar system and its history.
