Mother Of Four Children Murdered Inside Family’s Deli In Baltimore

A memorial continues to rise for a mother of four who was murdered inside her family’s deli and grocery store over the weekend.

36-year-old Carmen Rodriguez died on Sunday after being shot in the head at Kim’s Deli in the 100 blocks of North Kenwood Avenue. She was among the four people murdered in shooting citywide over the weekend. More than a dozen other people were injured because of the shooting.

Friends stated that the mother of four opened her doors and her hearts to anyone.

“She used to open her heart out to several people out here in this neighborhood,” her friend Antonio Rodriguez said.

A memorial develops at the place where 36-year-old Carmen Rodriguez was fatally shot on December 22, 2019.

Antonio knew the 36-year-old for years. On Tuesday, he visited the memorial to pay tribute to his beloved friend.

“I appreciate God that I woke up today, but I woke up with rage,” he said. “It’s assumed to be a happy day; there’s nothing fortunate about this day.”

Rodriguez’s death makes the city’s total number of homicides this year to 338, which is 34 more than last year.

“We are out here each day, patrolling the neighborhoods, we are out here taking information, following evidence, and out here responding the cries and calls of our community, and we want everyone to do that part,” said Baltimore Police Col. Sheree Briscoe.

Police have not arrested anyone related to the incident, and they are asking anyone with information to come forward.
