A couple is arrested for killing a 3-year-old girl
Two people are behind bars in connection with 3-year-old girl Olivia Jansen, the main figure on the Kansas AMBER alert, who was found dead on Friday evening.
Charges for the crime
According to the sources, Olivia’s father Howard Jansen III was arrested on Friday night on charges of first-degree murder and child abuse. Police arrested his girlfriend Jacqueline Kirkpatrick on Saturday. She is also accused of suspected first-degree murder and child abuse.
Jansen claimed that his daughter is missing from their home
As previously reported by the officers, instead of calling 911, Jansen came to the police department on Friday morning around 8:30 in the morning to report that her daughter was missing. Jansen said his daughter was the last spotted at their home on Gibbs Road in Kansas City.
Jansen reportedly woke up at 5:30 in the morning and found that the door to the house was open. He said Olivia is missing.
Kansas City spokesman Tom Tomasic said on Friday that the authorities listened to “some stories during the day”, but “none of them made sense”.
Officers discovered the body of the little girl on the runway
The hints eventually led the seekers to a forest path near 34th Street and Steel Road. Around 5:45 pm on Friday, the police identified a little girl’s body on a runway, about nine blocks away from her home.
The cause of the death will be clear after autopsy reports
It is unclear how long Olivia has passed away and the cause of death is still unclear. Tomasic cannot comment on whether the authorities found a child’s bodily injury.
On Saturday, a community gathered to mourn the loss of Olivia, who has been described as a lively and caring child.
Olivia’s biological mother, currently in prison, watched the vigil through a video,
