Watchmen: Will The Show Return For Season 2 On HBO Ever?

The watchmen of HBO was one of the best shows on TV in 2019, which kept the network’s momentum going after other hits, such as Succession and Game of Thrones. Showrunner Damon Lindelof and his writers launched a so-called “remix” of the original comic by Alan Moore, drawn by Dave Gibbons and telling a plot, which was not an adaptation of the seminal work but instead a legacy.

Having grappled with the challenges of white supremacy in America, the HBO’s Watchmen has put together a star-studded cast, playing both new and familiar roles in the key scenes of Tulsa, Oklahoma, almost a hundred years after the 1921 Black Wall Street massacre. Though Lindelof did everything possible to tie it together in a package of its own, these nine episodes of watchmen left some questions unanswered and provided a desire for more.

Will There Be A Watchmen Season 2?

However, the second season of watchmen seems incredibly unlikely, at least not with Lindelof at the helm.

The showrunner spoke about how the first season was reasonably self-contained, much like the original graphic novel of Alan Moore. As a consequence, there might be no room shortly for a second season.

Release Date:

We will have to wait a while if a second season is made. Lindelof told Metro.co.uk that the writing team had saved no ideas for potential use but instead had all that it could do with the nine episodes that remained.

Since Watchmen is not merely a revisionist sequel, it is essential to build a whole new storyline – filming in season two needs to wait until the writing staff creates one.

Cast Details:

The cast of season 2 will include:

  • Regina King as Angela Abar
  • Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Cal Abar
  • Tom Mison as  Mr. Phillips
  • Sara Vickers as Ms. Crookshanks
  • Jeremy Irons as Adrian Veidt

Plot Details:

Sadly, the Watchmen Season 2 seems like a far-fetched idea at this stage, but we can’t say it’s all entirely off the table. Today Lindelof said he “did [his] blessing” to HBO if they were to want a second season of green light, but HBO said they do not wish to continue with the project if Lindlof were not attached to the project.

It could be in the form of an anthology that makes sense, considering that Lindelof/HBO revealed the whole tale the showroom wanted to have with Season 1. Bloys was probably dreaming about doing a series about anthologies-and if that were the case, what Season 2 might look like is in the air.
