Travis Scott is recently facing some big issues as he got sued in Los Angeles Federal Court by a bunch of songwriters for copyright-infringement. The concerned track is “Highest in the Room” and 28-year-old Rapper and other authors accused respectively.
Lawsuit
Travis Scott and company facing the rage of Benjamin Lasnier, Olivier Bassil, and Lukas Benjamin. They registered a 37-page complaint about using the guitar tone from their song without their authorization.
However, Highest in The Room indeed was a better song and even topped the charts for a few days. This is not it, this song also used for commercial purposes as Travis Scott Ex-Girlfriend Kylie Jenner used it for her Kybrows beauty product advertisement.
Lawsuit In Depth
The lawsuit filed in the name of Travis Scott along with his crew including songwriters and producers Ozan Yildirim, Nik Dejan Frasonca, Mike Dean, Cash Passion, and Sean Solymar. The suit also dragged Jack Records, Grand Hustle LLC, and even Sony Music Entertainment.
They claimed that they developed their Cartier song with a characteristic guitar tone in 2019. Lasnier also shared a link in an online public opinion group for music producers for the confirmation of the song.
Then after sharing the news about the song on Instagram Lasnier co-operating with Lepr and discuss beats for licensing purposes.
Then the group found out that Highest In The Room with a similar guitar melody to their song Cartier and proceeds to the lawsuit.
Demands
Through the lawsuit, they want to retrieve the damages and the royalties for the Highest in the Room. They summarised that song has already earned 20$ million.
