A man is on the run after killing his ex-girlfriend at a Christmas party in northwest Harris County, police said.
Deputies state that 52-year-old Albert Benjamin Simon forced into the party that was organized at a house in the 16500 blocks of Obsidian Drive near the Houston National Golf Club at approximately 8:30 pm on Christmas Eve.
The party was not just to celebrate Christmas, but also to celebrate the birthday of the dead woman.
The Sheriff’s Office states Simon, her ex-boyfriend, forced his way inside, grasped her, and shot her many times.
Detectives discovered a handgun in the garden, but think Simon is still armed and dangerous.
The Sheriff’s Office states Simon fled the scene in a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the killer with charged of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend. He has a mugshot on record with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for a former offense.
“This morning, we started with a tragedy, the death of a 3-month-old, and today we are ending the evening of Christmas Eve with another disaster,” Sheriff Ed Gonzales said on Tuesday night.
Officials identified the victim as 46-year-old Carolee Dawn Taylor. Taylor died at the scene.
They say around 15 people were at the house when she was shot and killed.
According to Gonzalez, Simon was still on the run as of Wednesday afternoon.
“We want people to be safe. If he’s watching, we desire him to do the right thing and turn himself in so that we can get this matter settled,” Gonzalez said.
