Texas officers have arrested a father for allegedly assaulting his infant daughter and later murdering her
A Texas man was arrested on Monday, a week after he allegedly killed his 9-month-old daughter by molesting her.
The girl was pronounced dead
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said officers were sent to an apartment in Houston on Aug.24 amid reports that the child was not responding. Officers who responded to the home found that emergency personnel was treating Savaya Mason, who was eventually pronounced dead in the hospital.
Cause of the death
An autopsy revealed that Mason had been physically assaulted and, according to police, died of suffocation in the attack.
Investigators reportedly questioned Mason’s father, 23-year-old Louis Lune, and determined that he was the cause of the child’s death. He was taken into custody on Monday without incident.
Charges against the father
Prison records show that Luna was charged with murder on death row as the victim was less than 9 years old. He is due to appear in court on Wednesday.
