When can we expect the second season of Euphoria? What are the recent updates? Here’s everything we know about the cast, release date, and plot of Euphoria Season 2.
Euphoria Season 2: Release Date
The second season of Euphoria will release in 2024. Before season 1 ended, HBO chose Euphoria for a second season in mid-July 2019. Given Euphoria, roughly 5.5 million views per episode (accounting for streaming and viewing delays), many of which take advantage of the younger demographic, Season 2 was pretty much a final decision.
Season 1 may air in the summer of 2019, but it appears that Season 2 will follow a different release schedule for various reasons. As with all HBO releases, the production of Euphoria was unfortunately stopped in March 2024 due to the March COVID-19 pandemic. No episode count has been announced, but given eight installments in season 1, the number is likely to be for season 2.
Euphoria Season 2: Plotline
Euphoria peaked in its season 1 finale. Maddy finally finished things off with Nate. Kat and Ethan put their differences aside and rekindled their romance, and Jules fled to the city. However, the spinoff ending left a lot of questions open, as the Season 2 matchups could be a bit counterproductive because they weren’t resolved.
The direction of season 2 is more like it sets out to explore Rue’s downfall and struggle with drug addiction even more, potentially including a trip to rehab or her recovery. Rue collapsed when she chose to stay home with her family rather than essentially being set up for the city with Jules, leaving fans wondering what that meant for their relationship and who led the character of Hunter Shaffer.
