Deadly Cults Season 2: More Details About The Sequel

Although NXIVM and other societies have made headlines – they have been accused or found guilty of rape, coercion, and exploitation of their followers – none of them has attempted to kill their leaders and outsiders. That is not always the case, though, as Deadly Cults has shown.

The series tells of the horrific murders in which religious leaders force members in the group to kill. The police have to decide in the season-premiere episode called ‘Spiritual Warriors’ whether the deaths of three submissive followers who died during an extreme sweat lodging were accidental or whether a famous self-help guru was taken too far.

Returning for a second season, the true-crime show Oxygen recounts the horrific murders when backers have been motivated to commit murder.

Oxygen is a network of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Lifestyle Group, a subsidiary of NBCUniversal, one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies in the growth, production, and distribution of entertainment, news, and information for the global community. Oxygen is available in more than 77 million homes.

Deadly Cults is produced by Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman, Bill Pruitt, and Paul Franklin and Chris Culvenor, Eureka Productions, from Industrial Media’s Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC).

Plot Details:

The series tells of the horrific murders in which religious leaders force members in the group to kill.

The series shares insight in the dark world of the cult from the Kansas cult killer manipulating followers into casual deaths to the founder of Synanon. This violent cult started as a program to drug addiction and conspired to murder a lawyer in Los Angeles, to demonstrate how power and influence are used to kill instead of to assist.

This series examines the psychology behind religious leaders who use fear and hate in their followers’ hearts and minds, frequently leading them to violence.

Deadly Cults is digging into criminal investigations through interviews conducted with former religious practitioners, law enforcement officers, religious scholars, and family members and friends nearest to the victims.
