A Tennessee based woman is booked for burning a child with a hot iron
A Lexington, Tennessee resident is accused of burning a 4-year-old boy with a red-hot iron, according to the reports.
The suspect is identified as an elderly woman
Amanda Coffman, 41, was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated child abuse, according to court documents.
Coffman claimed that the toddler fell on the iron by himself
Coffman reportedly told police the child fell on the iron, resulting in a “severe burn”. But she didn’t take the baby for treatment, and subsequent medical records show more burns in different stages of healing.
The injuries were indicative of “severe physical abuse and burns,” according to medical records, as noted in court documents.
A 4-year-old child reportedly told investigators that Coffman burned the baby with an iron when the baby was in trouble.
The child is handed over to the Child Care Department.
Coffman’s relationship with the 4-year-old was unclear and did not specify how the child abuse investigation had begun.
Coffman was released from Henderson County Jail on bail.
