To mark the conclusion of Star Trek’s: Picard’s debut year, C.B.S. All Access dropped the first teaser trailer of the third season of Star Trek’s: Discovery.
The promo lasts just 15 seconds, but it is the first preview into what we can expect from the race.
As you can see above, the trailer features specially shot footage of Michael Burnham Sonequa Martin-Green standing on her own in a desert alien universe as she plants a tattered flag in the dirt. The promo promises that the new season will soon arrive, but it does not announce a particular release date.
Michael Burnham Returns
The U.S.S. Discovery went into a wormhole at the end of season 2, confirming that the crew will be in the future for 1000 years. This clip makes a strong attempt to create the new status quo of the show, then: Burnham and the others in the name of Starfleet will explore this brand new future. Going courageously where no other series has gone before in Trek universe.
Book is said to be “a natural charisma” or “devil-care” disposition. Note that in season 3, the Discovery will need a new captain, and its key rivals are the Book, the Burnham or the Saru.
Production Is Delayed
Post-production at Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 has been interrupted by the outbreak of coronavirus, but C.B.S. has not yet officially stated this. Furthermore, if so, the target release timeline has possibly changed. You may also theorize that this promo was initially to announce the date of the premiere before it all collapsed. But sometime this year certainly comes, and once we hear more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
Release Date:
For the following series of Discovery episodes, C.B.S. has yet to name an official release date. However, we can make an informed guess here and estimate that it will happen in spring 2024. The first two seasons of the series were between January and April, but the timetable was changed for Picard this year. In the coming weeks, we expect to know the release date for Discovery Season 3.
